Compass Retirement was built by an outstanding team of leaders dedicated to the education and empowerment of their local community. The Compass team of knowledgeable professionals has years of experience in finance, investments and retirement planning. Their passion for the industry and extensive knowledge of the field puts them ahead of the game, as they help people daily to understand money and apply strategies that will prepare them for secure, lucrative financial futures.
Scott Winstead, FounderScott began his financial services career with AXA Advisors in 2009, after previously holding several leadership positions at a global healthcare firm. While working with a wide variety of clients during his first year as an advisor, Scott realized he very much enjoyed helping people create and manage their retirement plans. It did not take long for him to realize that proper planning and education are what makes the difference between people either having the retirement they envision - or running out of money. Unfortunately, this type of planning is very specialized, and most consider it to be an overwhelming, time-consuming hassle. With that in mind, Scott founded Compass Retirement and designed his practice to help pre-retirees and retirees formulate solid plans to secure their financial futures.
Along with being distinguished as a Certified Education Consultant (CEC®), Scott holds a Series 7, 63, 65 and Life, Health and Annuity licenses. Also, he is in the process of earning the distinguished Retirement Income Certified Professional® designation from the esteemed American College of Financial Services. This unique designation allows him to serve his clients at a deeper level than those who advise without it. Lastly, he has the pleasure of speaking all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area through the Foundation for Financial Education (F3E), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free educational resources to the public.
Currently residing in North Richland Hills, Scott enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time. Being a former Division I collegiate soccer athlete, he loves all things relating to physical fitness and sports. He has a deep appreciation for improving his cooking skills and spending quality time with his family and friends over a great meal!
Angela Tvedten, Community Outreach DirectorA Fort Worth resident for over 23 years, Angela is a Texas transplant originally hailing from North Dakota. She grew up sitting around her dining room table discussing finance with her father, a financial wizard. As a child, discussing finance was simply second nature to her- she assumed that everyone talked about money openly.
Working closely with the local community is something Angela has always been passionate about. She firmly believes everyone deserves to be financially literate, and it’s her mission to make sure that happens. She is active in community outreaches, and even led a business group helping women to understand business, and teaching them how to succeed, see their value, and reach their full potential.
A graduate from Metropolitan State College of Denver, Angela holds a life insurance license. Her mission to spread the message of financial education has empowered people to take charge of their financial well-being. She believes that it’s impossible to make the best financial decisions without all of the up to date information. To Angela, information is power, and she is truly passionate and driven to ignite change in her clients, enabling them to achieve long term success.
When she’s not busy educating people and charting wonderful retirements, Angela enjoys spending time with family. She also loves cooking, exploring the outdoors, dancing, yoga, camping, trying new foods, reading and volunteering. Over the decades, Angela has volunteered with many organizations to help raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for members of the DFW community. Some of her favorite community outreach programs are the Tarrant County Toy Drive, Grace, and Art in the Square.
