5 Types of Long Term Care
Gone are the days when retirement meant you either had to live with your children or in a retirement home. It’s 2016, and the options are growing every day. In this article we will discuss the five main types of long term care, and what they look like. How will you retire?
1. In-Home Care
This can be either friends/family, or a professional caregiver in your home. The types of duties done by the individual helping you from within your own home range from errand running to cleaning, cooking, and assisting with personal hygiene.
2. Community Services
These services can include a wide variety of assistance such like delivering meals, transportation, cleaning, adult day care, and much more.
3. Supportive Housing
These services are offered generally to lower-income families, offering housing at lower costs, and sometimes including services such as housekeeping and more.
4. Assisted Living
Includes housing in a safe environment and limited care that is designed for senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities but do not require care in a nursing home.
5. Nursing Homes
Residential accommodations with skilled caregivers who provide healthcare, meals, supervision and daily activities.
